ACUITY CURL CONTROL Cold Air Intake System for the 9th Gen Civic Si (RBC Intake Manifold)

This kit is for use on a 9th Gen Civic Si equipped with an RBC manifold.

Nearly 1.5 years in the making, the ACUITY CURL CONTROL Cold Air Intake system was designed and painstakingly refined to be the best performing cold air intake for the 9th Generation Civic Si. Perhaps just as important, it was designed with careful attention to how it integrates with the OEM chassis mounting points and electrical connections. It is built from superior materials and requires no cutting or extending of OEM wiring and no clutch system bleeding during installation. The kit is designed to be incredibly complete, meaning a very simple installation.

Air Handling

With its hand-laid carbon fiber and bonded billet 6061 aluminum appointments, this intake's carbon tube is the centerpiece in both performance and appearance. Air enters through a large, 6" dry filter, mounted to a spun aluminum velocity stack that reduces to 3.5". The silicone couplers located on either end of the carbon tube are designed with reliefs to provide a smoother transition as air enters and exits the intake. The throttle body coupler features an integral aluminum hose barb. Silicone hoses are also provided for the valve cover breather and coolant bypass. The carbon tube features a bonded billet 6061 aluminum MAF mount and mounting boss, both anodized in ACUITY's signature purple. Also supplied with the kit are German-style hose clamps. While more difficult to tighten compared to traditional clamps, German-style clamps provide more even clamping and have formed threads and rolled edges to prevent damage to the silicone couplers. 

Battery and Wire Management

The supplied battery tray is both attractive and durable. This is thanks in part to the careful combination of stainless steel and aluminum, allowing it to be strong where it must and light where it can, all while providing a rust-resistant design that will age gracefully. With laser-etched wire routing callouts and integral mount points for the battery ground and all wiring extensions, the battery tray ties the CURL CONTROL kit together to make it the most well-integrated 9th Gen Civic Cold Air Intake kit available. No wire cutting or splicing is needed. Instead, wire extensions are supplied to allow plug and play installation.

Upgrades Made Easy

With the variety of intake manifolds and throttle bodies available to 9th Gen Civic Si owners, we know that there are good odds you'll want to change one or both of those components down the line. We're here to make those mods easier. ACUITY sells the throttle body couplers for each kit separately so that if you ever change your manifold or throttle body, you can simply buy a coupler and upgrade your original CURL CONTROL kit.

Important Note About Aftermarket Motor Mounts (PLEASE READ)

The CURL CONTROL battery tray has been confirmed to fit when used with OEM and Hasport motor mounts. The kit is not plug and play with Hasport mounts. A small amount of grinding on the Hasport chassis-side transmission mount will allow the battery tray to be mounted, but it is ultimately the end-user's decision whether or not to do this.  This intake system's battery tray IS NOT compatible with Innovative brand motor mounts.

Independent Test Results Performed by RC Autoworks:

In February 2018, RC Autoworks in Bridgeview, IL performed an independent test where they compared a number of aftermarket intakes (including our Curl Control CAI) against one another and against the stock intake. While your exact results depend on your exact vehicle, upgrades, ambient conditions, engine health, dyno brand/type and tune quality, the dyno graphs below will give you a relative idea of the gains you can expect if you are upgrading from stock or from another cold air intake. Many things can affect dyno results and RC Autoworks took great care to maintain consistent test conditions between tests. They went as far as to complete the tuning and runs each day when ambient temperature and humidity was consistent. Generally speaking, we found their results to be consistent with our findings during development of the Curl Control CAI design. Below is RC Autoworks' Facebook post regarding the test. Next-Day Shipping Policy:

Shipments are sent only after payment has been received. ACUITY Instruments LLC reserves the right to delay shipments temporarily if credit card fraud is suspected. ACUITY Instruments LLC ships all orders on the next business day. This means that if you purchase the "next day" shipping option, next day shipping will go out the next day, meaning a total transit time of 2-days. Similarly, 2-day shipping takes 3 days since the order is filled the next day. If you require faster shipping, we recommend you contact one of our vendors that carries inventory.

Shipping Options:

Everyone loves lots of shipping options! We offer USPS, UPS, and FedEx shipping options for domestic (within the United States) shipments and USPS, UPS, FedEX and DHL for international shipments. For your convenience, we offer shipping options with transit times as low as 2 business days. At this time, we do not offer next-day shipping options. 

Shipping Insurance and Signature Policy:

Acuity insures all packages it ships. This insurance covers damage to or loss of the product while in transit only. This does not cover theft of the package after delivery. Because of this, a signature is required for delivery of all orders over $100 (before shipping costs). If you will not be available to receive the shipment, many carriers permit the recipient to leave a note on the door instructing them to leave the package. If you choose to do this, please remember that Acuity Instruments LLC cannot insure packages that are stolen.

Free Shipping Options:

Occasionally we offer shipping specials where orders over a certain amount are free. If we are offering this, you will see the free shipping option in your cart at checkout. If no options is visible at checkout, then either there is currently no free shipping offer or you are not in a zone that qualifies for free shipping. Most states in the continental USA qualify when a shipping special is being ordered. There is no choice of carrier for free shipping, but typically we will ship your order will likely ship using either USPS or FedEx. If you'd like a faster delivery, you can opt out of the Free Shipping option in favor of a faster, paid, shipping option.

Taxes on International Shipments:

It is against Acuity's policy to falsify tax documents during the shipment of goods to locations outside of the USA. The tax documents for your shipment will reflect the price you paid for the parts. Please do not contact us requesting us to falsify tax documents so that you do not have to pay taxes on the shipment as we cannot do this.

Guaranteed Times by Carriers and Related Reimbursements:

On some shipping services, like USPS Priority Express, the service provider (USPS, UPS, DHL etc) will offer a shipping reimbursement if the order does not arrive on time. ACUITY does not assume responsibility for tracking these matters. If you suspect your service may have a delivery-time guarantee and was delivered late, please contact us with the order # and delivery info. Please note that a full refund is typically not provided by the carrier. ACUITY does not offer full reimbursement of shipping costs, but ACUITY will pass on 100% of any reimbursement for shipping costs from the carrier to the customer.

Domestic Transit Times:

For orders shipping within the continental USA, USPS First Class shipments will usually take around 5-7 business days for delivery. USPS Priority usually takes closer to 2-4 business days, and Priority Express usually takes about 2 business days. Your exact transit time will vary based on your location. 

International Transit Times:

USPS First Class International shipping is very economical, but the transit time can be very slow. Please allow up to 4 weeks for delivery of orders shipped via USPS First Class International. USPS Priority mail is typically faster, normally taking closer to 2 weeks. USPS GXG is faster still, typically taking only about 1 week. Your exact transit times will vary depending on your location, and it is possible that your exact transit time will exceed the values provided here. For best results on international shipments, however, we recommend avoiding USPS options in favor of FedEx, UPS, or DHL shipping methods.

Warranty Requests

All ACUITY products are covered by a 1-year warranty against manufacturer defect. Please keep a copy of your receipt as a proof of purchase when contacting ACUITY with a warranty request. Please do not ship back any merchandise without a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. Contact ACUITY to receive an RMA number.

Returns

Customers are responsible for all return shipping charges. Please do not ship back any merchandise without a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. Contact ACUITY to receive an RMA number.  ACUITY permits returns with no fees if the product is returned within 14 days of delivery, if it is unopened and in its original packaging. If the product has been removed from the original packaging, has not been installed in any way, and requires repackaging but is in 100% sale-able condition (to be determined by ACUITY) a restocking fee will be assessed in an amount equal to the greater of $5 or 10% of the cost of the product. ACUITY will not refund any shipping and handling fees related to a returned purchase. Valid proof of purchase must be provided to receive an RMA number. Any purchases made through one of ACUITY's vendor's are subject to that vendor's return policies. ACUITY cannot accept the return of an item purchased through a vendor without the consent of ACUITY and said vendor. Please Note: If 2 items were ordered and the order qualified for free shipping, but the return of 1 of the 2 items brings the new invoice amount (after your refund) below $100, the original cost of shipping will be debited from your refund, since the order would no longer be eligible for free shipping.
